Light the Tree Art Contest

Winner receives the opportunity to turn on Rose District’s lights for the first time this holiday season in conjunction with Mayor Thurmond.

Theme: Why is it a wonderful life in Broken Arrow?


How to enter:

Submissions will be accepted Now – November 9, 2020.


We are looking for creativity, originality, and personal touch. All submissions should be completely original.  Anything plagiarized or breaking copyright law will be disqualified.

All submissions should be signed by a parent/guardian or educator. Please fill out the following form and include it with your submission. If emailed attach the form, if submitted physically please submit the form then print the form and include it with your work.

No group entries will be accepted. Each work should be created by only one student with no help from an adult.

Drop Off:

Please drop off your work of art at City Hall located at 220 S 1st Street. Office hours are Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.



Public, private, or home-school students in the Broken Arrow city limits enrolled in grades K–12 are eligible to participate in the contest. Students must be under 18. Employees of the City of Broken Arrow or the participating Contest prize(s) provider and their immediate family of any such persons are not eligible to participate and win. The term “immediate family” includes spouses, siblings, parents, children, grandparents, and grandchildren, and any other persons residing in the same household whether or not related.


Blind Judging:

The submissions will be judged without knowledge of the artists’ identity. Please do not include any personal information in your work.

If a winner cannot be contacted or is disqualified for any reason, the City of Broken Arrow Convention and Visitors’ Bureau (CVB) reserves the right to determine an alternate winner or not to award that winner’s prize, in its sole discretion.
